Summary

edit
Description The Palace of the Patriarchate, formerly the Palace of the Chamber of Deputies (and also Palace of the Great National Assembly during the Communist regime) was built in 1907 from the design of architect Dimitrie Maimarolu. It replaced the Princely Divan where, on 24 January/5 February 1859, Alexander John Cuza, prince-elect of Moldavia, was surprisingly elected as prince of Wallachia, thus uniting the two Danubian Principalities to form (little) Romania.
