I visited a observation deck in Land Mark Tower in Yokohama where the height is 272m. I tried to take a picture of a car with panning. All of my friends say I'm doing pretty strange to use telephoto lens in a observation deck, but I think it worked pretty well. The vibration reduction feature of NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8G ED VR II really helped to capture this image successfully. It is said that you should turn off the feature as it misunderstand the intended movement for panning and interrupt it. But this lens never misunderstand it and more, it made the camera very stable And it made it possible a 200mm focal length(300mm in 35mm equivalent) panning with 1/3 sec. I was too into thinking about the feature to bring my tripod from the observation deck lol

横浜にある地上272mの展望台ランドマークタワーに行ってきました。そこで私は車の流し撮りにチャレンジしました。せっかくお金を払って高いところに来たのに、何故望遠を使って被写体を引き寄せるのかと言われましたが、わりといい感じに仕上がったと思います。今まで、私は手振れ補正はいらないと思っていましたが、NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8G ED VR IIの手振れ補正に非常に助けられました。通常、流し撮りを行う場合は手振れ補正をオフにするのが基本です。そうしないと、流し撮りとして意図した動きを手振れと勘違いしてキャンセルしてしまうので、なめらかに被写体を追うことができないためです。ところが、このレンズの手振れ補正は動いている方向の手振れ補正だけは行わないため、進行方向にはなめらかに動きつつも、進行方向以外の動きはきちんと手振れ補正するという素晴らしい動きをしてくれます。そのおかげで200mmの焦点距離(35mm換算で300mm)で1/3秒の流し撮りに成功しました。その手振れ補正に感激し、あれこれ考えているうちに展望台に三脚を忘れてしまいました。
