Nederlands: Begeleidende tekst Nationaal Archief: "Benedictijnen. Pater [Henri Louwerse] bewerkt een houten beeld van Jezus aan het Kruis, Benedictijnerklooster in Oosterhout, Nederland jaartal niet vermeld.
Het is pater Henri Louwerse, geboren 19 september 1878, overleden 7 februari 1946. Pater Louwerse is gedoopt, maar niet in de katholieke kerk. Voor zijn intrede in Oosterhout gaf pater A.Rijken o.p, vanuit het Dominicanenklooster in Huissen een verklaring dat hij "a ministro acatholico valide baptizatus est", dus geldig gedoopt door niet katholieke bedienaar. (verklaring van 23 mei 1908). In Oosterhout is hij priester gewijd in 1914. Als monnik heeft hij veel kerkelijke kunst vervaardigd, zoals beeldhouwwerken, ontwerpen van kelken en ander liturgisch vaatwerk en van liturgische gewaden. Pater Louwerse was ook een schilder-tekenaar. Hij heeft studie gemaakt van de kerkelijke oudheid en heeft vier jaren aan het Anselmuscollege in Rome les gegeven in liturgie en patristiek. Vanwege zijn gezondheid is hij teruggekeerd naar Oosterhout, waar hij (volgens necrologium) zeer trouw was in obsevantie en dienstbaar aan zijn medebroeders en heeft hij God gezocht." |
