DescriptionPensacolaAug081920sRadio.jpg |
English: Broadcast radio receiver and loudspeaker from 1920s, Historic district museum complex, Pensacola, Florida. The radio is almost certainly a tuned radio frequency (TRF) receiver, common in the 1920s before superheterodynes. The 3 large knobs were for tuning in stations, and had to be turned in unison to the new station. The two smaller knobs (right) were probably the volume and filament current controls. Used with one of the earliest cone speakers, which were just beginning to replace horn speakers in the 20s. |
