Description |
English: The Pacific Net and Twine Company was founded in 1897 by Edward Cunningham in Seattle, Washington. By 1913 the company had moved its operations to Pier 8 on Seattle's waterfront, where it provided the Puget Sound and Alaskan fishing industries with net, cordage, and other fishing supplies. In 1919 the company moved once more, this time to its own building at 1223 Western Avenue in Seattle. In 1927 the company changed its name to Pacific Marine Supply. Ships pictured were typical of the vessels which headquartered at the dock (taken from caption on back of photo) Also pictured are trains and railroad lines.
This is part of the present-day Pier 59, which now houses part of the Seattle Aquarium, including the main entrance and the Omnidome. |
