Description This H5 ordinary chondrite was discovered in Hale County, Texas in 1917. The legendary H. H. Nininger was convinced that there were many more specimens in the area despite skepticism from other scientists. Nininger traveled to the Plainview strewnfield in 1933 and ultimately recovered hundreds of stones over the course of his lifetime. This particular full slice was cut from Nininger stone number 92.275. Plainview contains carbonaceous inclusions and is 26.8% total iron. This full slice weighs 30.7 grams and comes from D. Stimpson of the Kansas Meteorite Museum.
