| Description |
English: Plaque in memory of the 12 last defenders of the tour du Petit-Pont (=Little Bridge tower) during the attack of Paris by the Vikings in 886. The plaque is at the entrance of the crypt of the cathedral Notre-Dame. The tour du Petit-Pont was replaced by a fortress named Petit Châtelet. Their sacrifice was not vain, because the Vikings failed to take the fortress of Grand Châtelet and flew.
Français : Plaque commémorant le sacrifice des 12 derniers défenseurs de la tour du Petit Pont lors de l'attaque de Paris par les Vikings en 886. La plaque se trouve à l'entrée de la crypte de Notre-Dame de Paris. La tour du Petit Pont fut remplacée par la forteresse du Petit Châtelet. Leur sacrifice ne fut pas vain, car les Normands ne réussirent pas à prendre la forteresse du Grand Châtelet et se replièrent. |
