In 2011/12 this padlocked gate in Chesnut Road N17 sometimes had its lock broken and/or removed. Potentially dangerous - especially if elderly people or children were not expecting vehicles driving along the pedestrianised central section.

At the time I was one of the elected local councillors and regularly nagged Haringey Council to fix or replace this lock and broken gate. Which eventually it did. But usually not before someone improvised several temporary fixes. These included: this broken plastic fork; a pair of twigs; a bone; and a short piece of rope;
