Français : Mon oncle Francis Roblot est mort à l'âge de 22 ans pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Nous conservons dans nos archives familiales 47 lettres envoyées à ses parents, sa soeur et son frère, 3 télégrammes, et une photographie en uniforme. Francis Roblot est né le 5 avril 1896 à Rennes, 22 rue d’Antrain. Ses parents, François Roblot et Marie Joseph Lelièvre, sont épiciers. Il fait partie de la classe de recrutement 1916, qui sera convoquée dès 1915. Par deux fois il est ajourné pour faiblesse, avant d’être déclaré « bon pour le service armé » le 4 juin 1917. D’après sa fiche matricule, il est employé de commerce, mesure 1 mètre 61, les cheveux châtains, les yeux bleu clair et le visage ovale. C’est à l’âge de 21 ans qu’il rejoint, le 3 septembre 1917, le 110e régiment d’artillerie lourde à Cherbourg pour une formation avant le départ pour le front. D’abord soldat de 2e classe, il est nommé 1er canonnier le 14 février 1918. Il change plusieurs fois de régiments au cours de l’année 1918 : au mois de juillet, il fait partie du 101e régiment d’artillerie lourde. Le 21 août 1918, la batterie est touchée par des gaz asphyxiants dans l'Aisne. Quelques jours plus tard, Francis Roblot est évacué vers l'hôpital complémentaire de Clermont-Ferrand. Sa dernière lettre se veut rassurante : le 29 août, il écrit à ses parents d'une main sûre : « je ne crois pas avoir été intoxiqué beaucoup […] je tousse un peu et c'est tout ». Mais son état se dégrade. Un télégramme alarmant est envoyé peu après à la mairie afin d'avertir la famille. Francis Roblot meurt le 9 septembre 1918, à l'âge de 22 ans. |
