Description
English: On 17th April 1860, English bare-knuckle boxers John C. Heenan and Tom Sayers (misspelled here as 'Sayres') had a historic fight lasting two hours. Frederick William Nichols was present with his camera, and took photographs of the injuries sustained by both men. The photographs were subsequently used as the basis for engraved woodcuts so that prints could be made and sold. Published in 1860
