Description
English: Reliquary of Jaucourt: Reliquary of the True Cross carried by two angels. Golden silver, golden copper. Reliquary made in Byzantium between 1100 and 1300. It was mounted by a Champagne artist in the hands of two kneeling angels around 1345-1360 for the lady of Jaucourt. It has on its front an inscription in old French: "This sanctuary with a piece of the True Cross was designed by the noble lady Marguerite d'Arc, Dame de Jaucourt (+1389) who begs our Lord to give to her. good life and good ending ". Purchase 1915. Louvre museum (Paris, France).
Français : Reliquaire de Jaucourt : Reliquaire de la Vraie Croix porté par deux anges. Argent doré, cuivre doré. Reliquaire réalisé à Byzance entre 1100 et 1300. Il a été monté par un artiste champenois dans les mains de deux anges agenouillés vers 1345-1360 pour la dame de Jaucourt. Il comporte sur sa face avant une inscription en vieux français : "Ce sanctuaire avec un morceau de la vraie croix fut élaboré par la noble dame Marguerite d'Arc, dame de Jaucourt (+1389) qui prie notre Seigneur pour qu'il lui donne bonne vie et bonne fin". Achat 1915. Musée du Louvre.
