Rev. D. R. Evans Heads Somerset Historical Society. Somerville, New Jersey. The Rev. David R. Evans, pastor of the First Reformed Church, was elected president of the Somerset County Historical Society at the annual meeting Saturday afternoon, succeeding County Clerk Walter K. Crater, who was not a candidate for reelection. Dr. Lancelot Ely, W. High St., was named vice-president and Dr. Fred A. Wild, HI E. High St., Bound Brook was reelected secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Alvah E. Miller, Bridgewater Township; Isaac Kip, Neshanic, and Miss Cora Wilcox, S. Bridge St., comprised the nominating committee. Meeting was in the Old Dutch Parsonage, Washington Place. George O. Smalley, Bound Brook, showed motion pictures of a trip to Africa and Holland. Miss Regnette Marsh of North Plainfield spoke on the history of Scotch Plains. Her discourse included several extracts from letters of Christian ministers who had traveled on foot from Ohio to preach in the New Jersey field.
