| Description |
Reykjavik's harbor that runs from Kvos area in the city center of Reykjavik The outermost part. The oldest part, Ingólfsgarður, was built from 1913 to 1915 and completed the preparation Örfiriseyjargarðs 1917. Since then, the port developed rapidly. The port is divided in half with Ægisgarð, West Port (Grand Garden, and Daniel Shipyard) and East Harbor (harbor, fishing updates and filling Faxi Garden). Most economic activity is now the western port where landed on Grandagarði the eastern port are mainly small boats, yachts and cruise ships as well as the Coast Guard and Marine Research Institute Iceland have been in a position to Faxi garden. Unloading of cargo ships that were previously in the eastern port moved all in Sundahöfn by 1968. Now, the major construction of the garden Faxi Ingólfsgarður eastern ports that are finishing up a concert hall and conference center Harpa. In November 2006 then came the idea to construct the port yard reception for the cruise and Fisheries play house outside Ingólfsgarður associated with the project. |
