Locality: Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
Original description: Preliminary analysis at Laurentian University suggested brockite but more detailed chemistry performed by the Canadian Museum of Nature showed that it was still rhabdophane-(Ce). Note that per Pavel Kartashov and Laszlo Horvath all MSH rhabdophane-(Ce) is pseudomorphous.
Update July 18, 2008. Pavel kindly microprobed a sample of this material and found ((Ce.28La.16Nd.07Pr.03Eu.01Gd.01Sm.01).56Ca.33Sr.10Ba.01)1.00 which confirms the abnormally calcian nature of this find. The material is unusual in anion content as well.
The material is porous and no trace of the precursor could be found.
