English: For the identification of the ruin, see Fritz Goldkuhle: Die Ruine des ‘Venustempels’ von Baiae in der Bildmotiv in der Kunst des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts, in: Bonner Jahrbücher 159, 1959, pp. 272–280, plates 41–46 (text, plates). – It is not a faithful representation of the so-called Temple of Venus but does seem to be inspired by it.
