English: The "SOS Mar Menor" demonstration was summoned in Cartagena (Region of Murcia) on October 30, 2019 as a protest against the environmental deterioration of Mar Menor. It gathered 55,000 people according to the police, who started a march from Alameda de San Antón to the Regional Assembly building, on Paseo de Alfonso XIII.
In the photograph, a protester exhibits a banner showing some of the thousands of fish and living beings dead as a result of the ecological crisis in Mar Menor, as well as an image of the siltated Portmán Bay, the scene of another environmental disaster. Español: La manifestación «SOS Mar Menor» fue convocada en Cartagena (Región de Murcia) el 30 de octubre de 2019 como protesta ante el deterioro ambiental del Mar Menor. Reunió a 55 000 personas según la policía, quienes iniciaron una marcha desde la Alameda de San Antón hacia el edificio de la Asamblea Regional, en el paseo de Alfonso XIII. En la fotografía, un manifestante exhibe una pancarta en la que se muestran algunos de los miles de peces y seres vivos muertos como consecuencia de la crisis ecológica en el Mar Menor, así como una imagen de la colmatada bahía de Portmán, escenario de otro desastre ambiental. |
