Railroad Avenue (now Alaskan Way) and Pier 14 (now Pier 70), Seattle, Washington, ca. 1934. Hamburg-American is now Hapag-Lloyd, but is long gone from the pier, and the current pier shed is an entirely new structure. Pier 71 (Union Oil Dock, Pier 18) also visible here, at right. It was demolished as the shore north of Pier 70 was turned into parkland. |
