Description

Seattle, Washington, 1916, looking roughly southeast from the roof of the New Washington Hotel (now Josephinum and Christ our Hope Catholic Church) at Second and Stewart. Downtown in the foreground; Capitol and First Hills in the background. Among the buildings prominently visible are:

  • The triangular building roughly at center is the now-demolished Plaza Hotel, the site of today's Westlake Park
  • The somewhat ornate, tall, whitish building to the right of that, still standing as of 2008, is now known as the Seaboard Building.
  • In the distance are the twin towers of St. James Roman Catholic Cathedral.
