English: Displacements maps of a beating triangular myocyte. The white arrows depict the frame to frame displacements of the fluorescent beads embedded in the gels. The displacements of the beads were not traced individually. Instead, the displacement map was discretized as suggested by Butler et al. 5. The color scale represents the magnitude of the displacement vectors. For consistency, the ranges of the color scale are the same for Videos S9, S10, and S12. During systole, the displacements are relatively larger at the cellular corners. Images contain a full contraction cycle. |
