Description
English: Ulrich Sild (1911–1937), Austrian mountaineer and skier, as a pupil of the progressive boarding-school Schule am Meer (School by the Sea) on the East Frisian island Juist in Prussia. He attended this open-air school because of his bronchial asthma due to the stimulating North Sea climate. The image shows him on the school's compound, south of the main building Diesseits (The Here and Now). For his class-mates he organized several mountaineer and ski tours through the Dolomites.
