(b) Energy dispersion from the series of dI/dV images for the second layer √3 × √3-β. The blue solid line and red dashed line indicate the linear and parabola fitting of the data, respectively. (c, d) dI/dV images of the area in (a). Vs = +0.3 V (c), and +0.8 V (d). I = 0.3 nA. The image size is 28 × 28 nm, Si coverage = 1.8 ML. The black lines in (a), (c) and (d) indicate the step edges. All the STM and dI/dV images were acquired at liquid nitrogen temperature.
