DescriptionTDK KR (Krom) C90 cassettes, 1973 74.jpg | TDK KR (Krom) C90 cassettes, 1973/74. The chromium formulation was patented by DuPont. The Japanese companies initially agreed to pay royalties to Dupont, and launched true chromium tapes like the KR. But they also searched for competitive formulations and soon perfected the ferricobalt tape, sort of compatible with chromium settings. As soon as TDK had the new technology going, they killed the KR type and quit chromium tape production. All their Type II tapes, SA and the like, were ferricobalts. |
