Description
English: Two Motorola-branded TL494 SMPS (switched-mode power supply) controller ICs. Made in week 47 (November?) of 1994. The TL494 was introduced by Texas Instruments in 1983 and by around 2000 was the industry standard for push-pull, transformer-coupled SMPSs in battery-powered environment - like, for instance, car audio amplifiers. Less ubiquitous but still very common in computer power supplies. The functionally superior UC3825 wasn't used as frequently as the TL494. The TL494 datasheet and app notes emphasized operation in single-ended SMPSs, but in such application the circuit quickly lost its ground to dedicated single-ended ICs.
