DescriptionTamiya 148 Brewster B-339 Buffalo "Pacific Theater".jpg |
No.488 Squadron, RNZAF, Singapore, late 1941 (<a href="http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/Sean1552/1a-1.jpg" rel="nofollow">photo of actual aircraft</a>) This kit was released by Tamiya in late September 2004. My first attempt at painting, and I was very amateur at it. This aircraft was flown by Noel Callan Sharp, who was born on 9 February 1922 in Auckland, New Zealand. He shot down three Japanese aircraft (Nakajima Ki-27, Mitsubishi A6M and Kawasaki Ki-48) during the Japanese invasion of Malaya before being shot down on 17 January. The Buffalo was repaired and flown to Palembang, South Sumatra, where it was destroyed in a bombing raid on 7 February 1942. Sharp was killed in action on 20 February 1942, while flying a Hawker Hurricane with No. 605 Squadron RAF. He was 20 years old. |
