Description

Youth unemployment is 49.3 percent in Greece, 53.8 percent in Spain and 43.3 percent in Italy. That’s just a fraction of the 5.6 million young people out of work in 2014. Europe isn’t working … at least, not well enough. The European Union has two key programmes to curb youth unemployment. But how effective and efficient are the European Youth Guarantee and the Youth Employment Initiative?

Euranet Plus and Rádio Renascença, commercial station, the Portuguese Euranet Plus member, discussed these questions in a bilingual debate moderated by journalist Ana Maria Carrilho of Rádio Renascença (in Portuguese) and Brian Maguire of the Euranet Plus News Agency in Brussels (in English). Students from the campus radio stations affiliated to Euranet Plus from Spain and Poland also joined the debate.
