"Soon after arriving at post, Consul General Peter O'Donohue and his wife Mary Linklater attended a ceremony marking the departure for Afghanistan of Canadian troops of the Royal 22nd Regiment Battle Group from Valcartier beginning November 2010. The contingent is expected to be the last Canadian unit involved in combat operations on Afghan soil. Nearly 2000 soldiers paraded before Quebec dignitaries and military families assembled at La Citadelle for the ceremony.
"After the ceremony, CG O'Donohue mingled with soldiers in the mess hall and met with Brigadier-General J.R.A. Tremblay, Commander of Quebec area Land Force and Joint Task Force (East)."
