Location - Durdle Door, Dorset Year Taken - October 2014 Camera - Canon 5d MKiii Lens - Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Exposure - 1/10 seconds ISO - 50 Aperture - f/11 Filters - Lee Circular Polariser and ND Grad 0.9 Durdle Door This morning I was accompanied by nothing more than a stiff sea breeze and a flock of hungry seagulls. At this early hour, as the sun pulled itself slowly up above the horizon, I found myself devoid of company in the abandonment of Durdle Door. Ive been here a couple of times recently, but I really wanted to see the effect a rising sun had upon the vast stretches of sea that fill the landscape. Yes, this image is a HDR, but not in the normal way. I hate those HDR images that are done for no other reason than to make an image look cool. HDR is an option, when your scene is filled with more light than your camera can handle. In this case, shooting into a morning sun, I was left with no choice. The dynamic range of this shot was around 16 stops, and I had to take 7 images at 2 stops apart in order to capture it all. I hope you like. |
