Description

"This far !". by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas,(100 x 80 cm) xx

We must not adopt off-the-peg visions like hotcakes. Maintaining our integrity involves self-awareness, critical thinking, and intentional decision-making. Let us not be tempted by assumptions that don't resonate with our authentic selves. If we eschew trendy ideas at face value or tunnel vision, we can stay true to our principles and keep them in line with what really matters to us.

Some might claim demarcation and "regulation." Others fancy "deregulation" and prefer foxes guarding the henhouse or chicken yards with free chickens and free foxes. Everyone can defend and express their vision, friend or foe, hen or fox.

Many people might have problems with challenging the tricky trilemma "democracy, national sovereignty, and hyper-globalization" and are on the verge of becoming schizophrenic or paranoid. Political incompatibility leaves them befuddled.

When their vision starts blurring, they often claim limits must be clearly defined: "This far! Not further!" They want 'liberty' to be increased and the 'law' to be enforced, creating a dialectic issue and causing more bewilderment.

Some would rather keep an eye on everyone, particularly newcomers, to secure the boundaries of their territory. Friends must be kept close, and enemies must be even closer. Friends can betray, whereas enemies cannot.

When everyone can be a fox in liberty, decision-making might be tricky.
