Thomas E. Ricks Dead. Well Known Utah Pioneer Expires Expires in Idaho. President Thomas E. Ricks of Rexburg, Idaho, died at that place yesterday morning. The funeral services will be held in the Rexburg tabernacle on Monday afternoon. Heart trouble was the cause of death. The news of the death of President Ricks was wired to President Snow yesterday morning by Thomas E. Ricks, Jr. The deceased was one of the pioneers of Utah and played his full share in the settlement of the state, from fighting Indians, to building cities and founding churches. He was born in Kentucky, July 21, 1828, and was 73 years of age at the time of his death. He united with the Mormon church in 1845 and went to live at Nauvoo. When driven out of that place he settled at Council Bluffs and lived there till 1848, when he crossed the plains and came to Utah. He was a strong church man and held many important positions of a religious character. He was president of the Fremont stake at the time of his death. He was the founder of Rexburg and leaves a large family there.
