Um das benötigte Brennmaterial zu gewinnen, ziehen die Torfstecher im Mai mit Spaten,

Schubkarren und Verpflegung in die nahe gelegenen Torfgräben. Dort stechen sie stufenweise den Brenntorf ab und legen die so gewonnenen Torfziegel zum Trocknen aus.
