Description

NUMI FOCUSING HORN FOR CREATING A NEUTRINO BEAM AT FERMILAB.

The horn will carry 200,000 amperes of electric current, which will create a very strong magnetic field within the horn magnet. The horn's purpose is to focus beams of secondary pions and kaons, which are produced just upstream from the horn in the NuMI target. The pions and kaons will decay into neutrinos that will be measured by the MINOS, MINERVA and NOvA near and far neutrino detectors.
