| Description |
Logo used by the United States Agency for International Development in the mid 1990s to 2001. An updated, and simplified version is still used as the centerpiece of the agency seal. It replaced a completely different logo which was used briefly in the early 1990s. In 2001, the agency started using the seal itself as the agency identifier, and in 2004 a further modification became the new logo or brand identity. This design is a slightly updated version of a logo used by USAID and predecessor agencies for many years, originally designed in the 1950s. The bar containing the stars was moved to the lower third of the shield, and "USAID" was added to the top (the agency name was not part of the old logo). Color also was removed from the handclasp to ensure no specific race was identified. For more information, see USAID's branding guidelines, in particular the Graphic Standards Manual. |
