English: ENGLEBRIGHT LAKE, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2009) -- Englebright Lake park ranger Ondrej Macejko and volunteer David Lindsay collect litter along Englebright's shoreline Sept. 19 as part of the park's National Public Lands Day observance. More than 80 volunteers joined Englebright park staff in celebrating National Public Lands Day and California Coastal Cleanup Day by cleaning up around the park. President of the Englebright Lake Houseboaters Association, Adele Reische, recruited more than 30 association members to help with the cleanup, saying, "It's our lake, too." After the cleanup, Englebright park rangers hosted a barbecue lunch at the park headquarters for the volunteers, who also received a free pass for day-use at participating federal parks as part of the National Public Lands Day observance. "Our volunteers made a huge contribution today," Englebright park ranger Joshua Jimerfield said. "The cleanup helps keeps the lake beautiful, but it also brings us together as a community." National Public Lands Day, observed Sept. 26 in 2009, is a National Environmental Education Foundation program. California Coastal Cleanup Day is hosted by the California Coastal Commission." |
