English: ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Sept. 21, 2001) - Navy File photo, Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. William J. Crowe Jr., poses with Midshipmen after receiving the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association Distinguished Graduate Award recipients in Sept. 2001. After retiring from active Naval service in 1989, Crowe remained deeply involved in the Brigade of Midshipmen, serving as a Distinguished Professor of International Relations from the fall of 1999 through May 2007. Crowe, who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1947, passed away Oct. 18 at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Crowe will be laid to rest in the Naval Academy Cemetery Oct. 31 with full military honors. U.S. Navy photo by Ken Mierzejewski (RELEASED) |
