DescriptionUS Navy 020726-N-8726C-006 U.S. Service members participate in host nation festival, Misawa, Japan.jpg |
English: Naval Air Facility Misawa, Japan (Jul. 26, 2002) -- Sailors and Officers from Misawa Air Base push a float during festivities at the Kappa Festival. For the last 23 years, the U.S. Navy at Misawa, Japan, has participated in the Kappa festival Dragon fight. The dragon fight pits three teams against each other. The U.S. Navy is represented by the red dragon, the JMSDF by the white dragon, and the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) is represented by the blue dragon during the three-day Kappa Festival. The Grand Komaki Hotel, which sponsors the Kappa Festival, offers this unique opportunity to participate in Japanese culture every year to the Navy. It is an event that builds friendships between the Japanese Military and the U.S. Navy. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate 2nd Class John Collins. (RELEASED) |
