English: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Dec. 7, 2002) -- Senior Chief Musician Michael J. La Pean directs the Pacific Fleet Band during the Dec. 7th commemoration ceremony. Hosted by Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, the ceremony featured Hawaii's senior senator and Medal of Honor recipient, Sen. Daniel Inouye, as the guest speaker. 17 Pearl Harbor survivors and their family members joined nearly 200 guests on the memorial for a wreath-laying ceremony by all branches of the U.S. military, the Governor of Hawaii, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and more than 20 veterans groups. The solemn commemoration marked the 61st anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and honored the men and women who lost their lives that day.
