English: Annapolis, Md. (Oct. 28, 2004) – The Civil War era warship Constellation moored at the sailing marina, at the U.S. Naval Academy. The 22-gun ship arrived here from Baltimore on Oct. 25th and will return to her homeport in Baltimore, Md., on November 1st. The ship was launched at Gosport, Va., 150 years ago. She captured three slave ships prior to the Civil War and served in blockading Confederate ports in the South. Between 1871 and 1933, the ship frequently served as a training ship at the U.S. Naval Academy and the Naval Training Center (NTC) at Newport Rhode Island. During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt recommissioned the ship as a non-sea-going flagship of the Atlantic Fleet. She was turned over to the City of Baltimore in 1955 as a historic shrine and is under going continuing restoration to bring her interior back up to her original standards. U.S. Navy photo by Don S.
