English: Phuket, Thailand (Feb. 26, 2005) – Commanding Officer, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), Capt. J. Stephen Maynard, describes the ship's combat effectiveness to Royal Thai Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Lertrat Rattavanich, while on a tour of Blue Ridge. Blue is visiting Phuket to support Operation Unified Assistance, the humanitarian relief effort to aid the victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia. The Sailors and Marines aboard Blue Ridge will participate in tsunami related community relations projects and conduct training with foreign military personnel.
