English: Norfolk, Va. (May 20, 2005) - More than 300 Sailors aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67), home ported on board Naval Station Norfolk, deploy in support of the 33rd annual maritime exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2005. Cole deployed along with the guided missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). This year's international exercise, co-hosted by Latvia and the United States, include 11 participating nations, in the spirit of "Partnership for Peace (PFP)." BALTOPS 2005 improves interoperability with allies and PFP countries by conducting peace support operations at sea to include a combined amphibious landing and a scenario dealing with potential real world crisis.
