English: Pacific Ocean (June 3, 2005) – The guided missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) performs a test of ship's countermeasure water wash down system (CMWDS). The CMWDS provides a blanket of water protection to the exterior of a ship during a chemical, biological or radiological (CBR) attack. This shield of water washes CBR contaminants over the side before they can adhere to the ship’s surface or affect the crew. Shoup is assigned to the Lincoln Carrier Strike Group currently at sea conducting readiness training in support of the Navy’s Fleet Response Plan.
