Description
English: New Orleans (Sept. 11, 2005) - Dozens of tents occupy the golf course grounds located on Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base. The tents are providing shelter for more than 6,000 military personnel deployed to the area providing Hurricane Katrina humanitarian relief efforts the New Orleans area. The Navy's involvement in the humanitarian assistance operations are being led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
