English: North Arabian Sea (Feb. 19, 2007) - Electronics Technician 2nd Class Robert Ford conducts a vessel search during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) drill aboard the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Antietam (CG-54). VBSS teams are used to board foreign ships in search of drugs, weapons, and other contraband items. VBSS teams are used to board foreign vessels and help pressurize the maritime environment, which disrupts and deters terrorists from using the sea as a venue or enabler for terrorist activity. Antietam, as part of the USS John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, is on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Maritime Security Operations (MSO).
