English: SAN DIEGO (May 4, 2007) - A volunteer at Naval Air Station North Island helps to preserve the natural habitat of the endangered Burrowing Owl on base. Six recycled aircraft windshields were placed in the ground and attached to tubes that extended to the surface in the hopes that Burrowing Owls will use the man-made burrows as nests.
