Description
English: DETROIT (July 6, 2007) - Maj. Matt McGath briefs several Michigan recruiters before their flight on Fat Albert, the U.S. Marine Corps C-130 Hercules assigned to the Blue Angels. Fat Albert starts each Blue Angels show with an assisted takeoff, demonstrating the C-130’s ability to get airborne in minimal time and distance, simulating conditions in hostile environments. The Thunder Over Michigan Air Show kicked off Navy Week Detroit, one of 26 Navy Weeks planned across America in 2007. Navy Weeks are designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
