Saul Martinez, who sustained injury during combat, attaches his prosthetic leg after climbing the new 30-foot wall in the Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty Care (C5) facility at Naval Medical Center San Diego. C5 is a program of care that manages severely injured or ill patients from medical evacuation through in patient care, out patient rehabilitation and their eventual return to active duty or transition from the military. The new 30,000-square-foot facility incorporates new technologies that improve prosthetic and rehabilitation services including a 3,500-square-foot multi-terrain obstacle course, a 30-foot climbing wall and a technologically advanced training apartment.
