English: SASEBO, Japan. (Dec. 19, 2007) U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Ramon D. Rivera II instructs Lance Cpl. Alex V. Qualey and Lance Cpl. Abelardo F. Garcia on the operation of a Tactical Water Purification System. The Marines attached to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion from Okinawa and Marines from Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 have been deployed to Fleet Activities Sasebo with Tactical Water Purification Systems to elevate some of the water needs required from the local Japanese area when rationing takes effect in the area. Each system can produce between 900-1500 gallons of potable water per hour, depending on water quality. The water purification system will provide for 100 percent of the water needs of the Hario housing area. U.S. Navy Photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Michael D. Kennedy (Released) |
