English: PORT GENTILE, Gabon (Jan. 17, 2008) Capt. Paul Biving Nziengui, left, chief of the Gabonese National Navy, and Capt. John Nowell, commander of Africa Partnership Station (APS), present Storekeeper 2nd Class Ronald Saucedo with a letter of commendation for helping save the life of a Gabonese woman on Sogara Beach, Gabon. The basic life-saving skills Saucedo learned aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) are part of the same training that APS is teaching to the maritime services of nine West and Central African countries. In addition to maritime training, APS will perform more than 20 humanitarian projects in the region. U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class RJ Stratchko (Released) |
