English: SACRAMENTO, Calif. (4 July 08) California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger; Maj. Gen. William H. Wade II, adjutant general of the California National Guard; Staff Chief Tom Hoffman, modular airborne firefighting system liaison officer for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection; and Lt. Col. Tom Brown, commander of the 145th Air Expeditionary Squadron of the North Carolina Air National Guard walk across the tarmac during the governor's visit with members of the 302nd Air Expeditionary Group. The 302nd AEG, comprised of aircraft from the Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Navy and Marine Corps, provides unique capabilities and is part of a unified military support effort of U.S. Northern Command to provide assistance to the U.S. Forest Service, CAL FIRE, and the National Interagency Fire Center. U.S. Northern Command continues to closely monitor the California wildfires to anticipate additional requests for Department of Defense assistance to local, federal, and state civil authorities.
