English: INDIAN OCEAN (July 16, 2009) Lt. Russell Meier, center, weapons officer for USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51), discusses the capability of the ship's 5-inch gun with South African Navy Lt. Cmdr. Edward Mokoena, left, and South African Army Lt. Col. Ronnie Jacobs. The South African service members are embarked aboard Arleigh Burke as part of a crew swap between the two ships to familiarize Sailors with a foreign navy's operation and lifestyle. Arleigh Burke departed Durban, South Africa with SAS Amatola (F145) to kick off a series of cooperative at-sea exercises geared to enhance interoperability and strengthen the ongoing partnership between the two navies.
