English: QUEENDSLAND, Australia (July 23, 2009) Quartermaster 1st Class Melvin Cassidy, from Biscoe, N.C. assigned to Beach Master Unit (BMU) 1, sits in a humvee aboard a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5, as it departs the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is participating in Talisman Saber 09, a biennial, combined exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting combined operations.
